The Road and I #Weeklies

Week 23/52 #Weeklies

... I still don't know how long I closed my eyes. All I remember was when I opened it, I was circling down to the center road...very fast, out of control... and then God took over.

I went long driving. It was a four hour trip. I left after lunch. I was driving at 74 miles per hour on cruise control.

I think I fell asleep, and when I opened my eyes from the right side where I was driving I found myself at the left side down to the median (the center in between two highways). The median slopes down (see the green grass in the middle of the picture).

Good thing there was no one on the road but me. Good thing the car didn't go upside down. Good thing the car was intact and so was I

I got scared and for a second I didn't know what to do, the car was still moving at 74 miles per hour, the audio CD was still playing and I realized I was still at cruise control. I pressed the break and pulled it to a stop. I breathed. I breathed hard.

From afar, I saw this truck from the other side slow down, and came to a halt to look at me. The driver saw the white state car in a whirlwind! He saw me! He smiled, rolled down his window and gave me a thumbs up - maybe to make sure I was OK. I looked at him. I forced a smiled and gave him a thumbs up too. Before he was able to say anything. I pushed the lever to drive mode and accelerated the car.

Thankful. Grateful. Very thankful. Very grateful. I am alive. The car is still in good condition and best of all I didn't hurt anyone.

The "what ifs" scared me. What if there were other cars... what if I wasn't alone... what if other cars did the same.... because the driver fell asleep!

Because it happened. It happened to me. And until now, I still couldn't believe it happened. But it happened. And it was scary. Really scary!

God, thank you for your deliverance. Thank you for your mantle of protection. Thank you. Thank you.

Prayer to St. Christopher for Safe Travels and Motorists

Saint Christopher Prayer"Motorist's Prayer:" Grant me, O Lord, a steady hand and watchful eye, that no one shall be hurt as I pass by. Thou gavest life, I pray no act of mine may take away or mar that gift of Thine. Shelter those, dear Lord, who bear my company from the evils of fire and all calamity.Teach me to use my car for others need; Nor miss through love of undue speed. The beauty of the world; that thus I may with joy and courtesy go on my way. St. Christopher, holy patron of travelers, protect me, and lead me safely to my destiny.

Saint Christopher's Protection Prayer
Dear Saint Christopher, protect me today in all my travels along the road's way. Give your warning sign if danger is near so that I may stop while the path is clear. Be at my window and direct me through when the vision blurs From out of the blue. Carry me safely to my destined place, like you carried Christ in your close embrace. Amen.

St. Christopher's Prayer
O Glorious St. Christopher you have inherited a beautiful name, Christ bearer, as a result of the wonderful legend that while carrying people across a raging stream you also carried the Child Jesus. Teach us to be true Christ bearers to those who do not know Him. Protect all of us that travel both near and far and petition Jesus to be with us always. Amen.

  1. You were lucky that you didn't have an accident. I guess, it's really hard to drive when you are sleepy or tired.
