Lenebeth’s 7-Year Journey: From J-1 Visa Setback to H-1B Success

Lenebeth was one of the first people in her group to join the J-1 program. She arrived in the U.S. in August 2018, excited to start her new journey. After a whole school year of teaching, she decided to go back to the Philippines to spend the summer with her family in May 2019. But there was a catch. Her J1 visa was only for one year. So, she had to get a new visa to return, which meant going through the U.S. Embassy process again.

Unfortunately, when Lenebeth went to the embassy for the new visa, they denied her application. She was disappointed but didn’t give up. She tried again, but once again, she was turned down. Even though things didn’t work out the way she hoped, Lenebeth didn’t let the rejections stop her. She kept believing that one day, she would find her way back to the U.S.

After two long years, Lenebeth tried again, but this time, it was even harder because she couldn’t find a job offer in the U.S. She never gave up, though. She kept pushing forward, and after seven years of perseverance, Lenebeth’s dream finally came true. She was approved for an H-1B visa, and she returned to the U.S. to continue her journey! And as a beautiful bonus, her sister will be joining her soon too!

I asked Lenebeth, what could have been God’s purpose for why things happened the way they did? She said she knows it’s all about her family.

Lenebeth’s story shows us that no matter how many times we face setbacks, if we keep going, we’ll get closer to our dreams. It might take time, but the victory is always worth the wait.
